Become immersed in this unusual timepiece from Japan: the “Small World Glad Duo” musical wall clock by Rhythm. Released in the early 2000s exclusively in Japan, this distinctive design features a unique neo-futuristic aesthetic, reminiscent of a spaceship from a sci-fi film…and that’s only where the fun begins. At the top of the hour, the blue minute hand and pink hour hand spring to life as they dance and bounce along to the rhythm of one of six J-Pop tunes including Dream Come True’s “Love Love Love”. And, if that wasn’t enough, the metallic silver frame is decorated with 12 multi-colored LED lights that flash along to the beat. It’s a truly captivating timepiece that is sure to spark conversation among those who encounter it.

This clock is radio-controlled, as many Japanese Rhythm clocks are, but the radio-control function will only work in Japan. So, you will have to set the time manually by pressing and holding the buttons on the back. Click here for a video tutorial I made.

Notes: This is one of my personal favorite Rhythm clocks; I remember being super excited to get my own. This one is in great shape, minus a few small scratches on the frame. That being said, as some collectors may know, this model typically has a thin white ring around the outer frame, but this one’s broke in transit. At first I was really disappointed, but after taking it off entirely, I realized the clock still looks really cool (arguably cooler than it did originally). I have reduced the price, however, since the clock is incomplete. The curved glass pane over the clock is still intact, and the missing ring does not affect functionality in any way. The clock still works great; it even has its original sticker from Japan. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
